Application Process

UKZN has different application processes for different types of students. To apply for admission to UKZN in 2024/2025, prospective students must follow the appropriate application process.

First-time undergraduate applicants who are South African citizens must apply via the Central Applications Office (CAO) at www.cao.ac.za. The CAO application form and handbook can be obtained from the CAO website or by calling +27 (0)31 268 4444. The application fee is non-refundable.

Returning undergraduate students, students with a gap year, all local postgraduate applications, and both undergraduate and postgraduate international applicants must apply online at https://applications.ukzn.ac.za/applications/online-applications/. Applicants must upload certified copies of their ID, passport, and National Senior/Matric Certificate (or equivalent).

Late applications will not be accepted from international applicants.
