Job Purpose:

The Senior Manager of Business Development – Bancassurance will proactively respond to business opportunities across all lines of business, providing leadership and direction to the business development team. The role includes achieving the business budget, ensuring sustainable and profitable operations, and establishing CRDB insurance agent as a leading agent in Tanzania.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily insurance sales within the organization.
  • Develop and implement departmental business strategies, plans, and budgets in alignment with company objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and quality standards, including TIRA.
  • Coordinate with group stakeholders to develop and articulate business strategies and action plans.
  • Conduct internal and external training to enhance the technical skills of underwriters.
  • Ensure timely renewals, maximize client retention, generate leads, and support in closing deals.
  • Develop and review business proposals for new products and clients.
  • Prepare analytical business reports.
  • Validate proposals/inquiries/quotations for compliance.
  • Provide underwriting technical guidance on cover scope, policy terms, premium finance, etc.
  • Establish frameworks to support business environments, including digitization.
  • Analyze sales data, address performance gaps, and propose cost-effective solutions.
  • Create growth opportunities, cross-sell, and upsell products/services.
  • Write reports and make presentations to customers and senior management.
  • Identify new methods and opportunities for sales campaigns.
  • Review market needs, advise on trends, and contribute to product development.
  • Develop incentive programs and drive market research for new business potential.
  • Ensure accurate and timely business reporting from subordinates.
  • Monitor competitor activity and advise on opportunities and threats.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related business subject from an accredited institution.
  • Professional qualification (ACII) is an added advantage; a degree in Insurance and Risk Management is the minimum qualification.
  • At least 6 years of experience in the insurance industry, with 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Self-starter with excellent planning, organization, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and resilience.
