Institute Overview

Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) is a leading research organization in Africa, specializing in health innovations. IHI is involved in a range of activities including biomedical and ecological sciences, health-systems research, and policy translation.

Position Summary

The Regional Coordinator will join the NEST360 Project, a global initiative aimed at reducing newborn deaths in hospitals. This role will be based in Mwanza and Kilimanjaro and will involve extensive coordination and administrative duties within the region.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordination & Management: Plan and manage regional activities in coordination with the Program Coordinator.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Oversee program monitoring, measure results, and report on regional developments.
  • Liaison: Work with Regional and Council Health Management Teams and thematic leads, providing support and maintaining communication.
  • Database Management: Update and maintain stakeholder databases and records.
  • Operational Support: Provide logistical and operational support for program activities.
  • Technical Assistance: Offer technical support at the regional level.

Qualification and Experience

  • Education: Master’s degree in public health, health policy, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in clinical background, health system strengthening, or maternal and newborn health. Experience in NGO program management and working with Regional and Council Health Management Teams is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to work under pressure.

  • Professionalism: Strong communication and analytical skills, with advocacy and management experience.
  • Communication: Clear and effective speaking and writing skills.
  • Planning & Organizing: Ability to set clear goals, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently.
