Entry Requirements for Undergraduate Programs

Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) Degrees

Direct Entrants

  • Principal pass at C grade or higher in Chemistry, Biology/Zoology, or Physics/Mathematics, provided the other two subjects are not below D at “A” level.
  • Candidates with an E in Physics/Mathematics at an “A” level must have a C grade or higher in Chemistry and/or Biology.
  • Candidates with a D in Physics/Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology must have at least a credit pass in Chemistry and/or Biology at an “A” level.

Equivalent Qualifications

  • Holders of an appropriate diploma/certificate/degree with principal passes at any grade in physics, chemistry, or biology at the “A” level.
  • Holders of BSc/BA degree majoring in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Zoology.

Bachelor of Science in Radiation Therapy Technology (BSc RTT) Degree

Direct Entrants

  • Principal pass at C grade or higher in Chemistry, Biology/Zoology, or Physics/Mathematics, provided the other two subjects are not below D at “A” level.
  • Candidates with an E in Physics/Mathematics at an “A” level must have a C grade or higher in Chemistry and/or Biology.

Equivalent Qualification

  • Holders of a Good Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography recognized by the university with a minimum of two years of working experience in the diagnostic radiography discipline.

Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) Degree

Direct Entrants

  • Principal pass at C grade or higher in Chemistry, Biology/Zoology, or Physics/Mathematics, provided the other two subjects are not below D at “A” level.
  • Candidates with an E in Physics/Mathematics at an “A” level must have a C grade or higher in Chemistry and/or Biology.

Equivalent Qualifications

  • Holders of an appropriate diploma/certificate/degree with principal passes at any grade in physics, chemistry, or biology at the “A” level.
  • Holders of BSc/BA degree majoring in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Zoology.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree

Direct Entrants

  • Principal pass at C grade or higher in Chemistry, Biology/Zoology, or Physics/Mathematics.
  • One C and two Ds, with preference given to those with a C grade or higher in chemistry, biology, or zoology.

Equivalent

  • Holders of Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Nursing.
  • Applicants must pass the matriculation examination.
  • Candidates must be at least 25 years old during the year admission is sought.
  • Candidates must have obtained at least 3 credits in the Form IV Examination in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics/Mathematics.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Management) Degree

  • Applicants must pass the matriculation examination.
  • Candidates must be at least 25 years old during the year admission is sought.
  • Candidates should have obtained at least 3 credits in the Form IV Examination in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics/Mathematics.
  • Candidates must have attended a nursing course at the diploma level or above, with a certificate and academic transcript(s) required.
  • Candidates should be registered by the Nursing Council of Tanzania or a relevant body in their country, if not Tanzanian nationals.

Bachelor of Science in Midwifery Degree

Direct Entrants

  • Principal pass at C grade or higher in Chemistry, Biology/Zoology, or Physics/Mathematics.
  • One C and two Ds, with preference given to those with a C grade or higher in chemistry, biology, or zoology.

Bachelor of Science in Midwifery—Conversion Degree

  • Candidates must complete the 2-year Advanced Diploma in Midwifery (ADM) program.
  • Candidates must pass the ADM Examination.
  • Candidates must also pass the matriculation examination.

Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health Science Degree

Direct Entrants

  • Three principal passes at “A” level in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Agriculture, Nutrition, Mathematics, or Geography.
  • A candidate with a minimum of a C and two Ds will be given preference.

Equivalent Qualification

  • Holders of appropriate diploma or advanced diploma in environmental health sciences from MUHAS, its predecessor, or any other recognized institution of higher learning with two “A” level principal passes at any grade plus two years of experience.

Application Process
