HESLB Announces Fourth Batch of Loan Allocations: TZS 27.5 Billion to Benefit 9,068 Students

Dar es Salaam, Tuesday, October 29, 2024

The Higher Education Students’ Loans Board (HESLB) has officially announced the allocation of loans in the Fourth Batch for the 2024/2025 academic year. A total of 9,068 students pursuing Bachelor’s Degrees and Diplomas have been allocated loans worth TZS 27.52 billion.

Breakdown of Loan Allocations:

  • Bachelor Degree Students:
    • First-Year Students: 4,400 newly enrolled students across various higher learning institutions in Tanzania have been allocated loans totaling TZS 13.74 billion.
    • Continuing Students: 2,646 continuing students who are receiving loans for the first time have been allocated loans worth TZS 8.37 billion.
  • Diploma Students:
    • First-Year Students: 2,022 new diploma students enrolled in priority programs at various middle-level colleges in Tanzania have been allocated loans amounting to TZS 5.41 billion.

Samia Scholarship Grants:

So far, a total of TZS 3.14 billion has been disbursed under the ‘Samia Scholarship’ for 625 first-year Bachelor Degree students in fields such as Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine. This includes 588 students from the first batch, 11 from the second batch, and 26 from the third batch.

Appeal Window for 2024/2025 Academic Year:

Students who applied for loans for the 2024/2025 academic year but are dissatisfied with the initial loan allocations or have not been allocated loans are advised to submit their appeals within seven days. The appeal window will be open from Monday, November 4 to Sunday, November 10, 2024.
