Position Overview
Educate!, the largest youth skills service provider in East Africa, is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Head of Program Implementation (HoPI) for our Tanzania Programs. This pivotal role is essential for driving the growth and execution of our initiatives, aiming to impact millions of youth across Africa. As HoPI, you will lead the implementation strategy, co-create processes, and cultivate a strong team culture. You will collaborate across departments to ensure effective delivery and an impactful user experience, supported by sound financial oversight.
About Educate!
Educate! is dedicated to transforming youth potential in Africa, preparing them to learn, earn, and thrive in today’s economy. We introduce an employment-focused curriculum in secondary schools and deliver livelihood bootcamps, particularly targeting marginalized rural girls and young women. To date, we have positively impacted over 250,000 youth across Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania.
Key Responsibilities
Program Management and Implementation Strategy (40%)
- Co-create scalable delivery models and expansion strategies in collaboration with Impact Unit leaders and frontline teams.
- Manage program ownership, driving impact goals, delivery KPIs, and enhancing user experiences.
- Foster alignment with other leaders to ensure commitment fulfillment and address potential misalignments.
- Establish a data-driven culture for program management, empowering teams with data for decision-making.
Team Culture & Leadership (25%)
- Build and maintain a high-performing, culturally aligned team through effective systems and structures.
- Coach and mentor staff, empowering them to achieve exceptional results and fostering leadership development.
- Promote a culture of respect, collaboration, and inclusivity, ensuring a psychologically safe environment for all team members.
Collaboration & System Development (20%)
- Oversee the development of Program Management standards and tools to support scalable product delivery.
- Identify and implement new systems while refining existing ones for improved efficiency.
- Collaborate on performance metrics and adapt information management systems as necessary.
Financial Oversight (15%)
- Co-develop and manage program budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and cost-effectiveness.
- Instill a culture of cost-consciousness among teams, reviewing budget vs. actuals regularly to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
- At least 4 years of experience in program ownership and management, with a strong focus on building and improving processes.
- Preferred experience in the education or youth entrepreneurship space within a startup or social enterprise environment.
- Proven track record of managing diverse teams for a minimum of 5 years, fostering a culture of high performance.
- Passion for addressing systemic challenges and enhancing last-mile delivery.
Terms
- Competitive compensation based on experience, with health insurance included.
- The position reports directly to the Managing Director.
