Purpose of the Role:
The Geotechnician will provide comprehensive support for field exploration programs across Tanzania. The role involves addressing logistical and service-related issues and supporting the Geotechnical Engineer in various exploration projects.
Qualifications:
- Certificate or Diploma in Exploration and Mining Geology or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in the mining industry.
- Medically fit to work in remote locations with limited medical facilities.
- Valid Tanzanian driving license with the ability to drive manual transmission light vehicles.
- Female candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
Experience:
- At least 3 years of exploration experience in the mining industry.
- Greenfields exploration experience is an added advantage.
- Technical know-how in drill core processing, AC, and RC pick-up.
- Working knowledge of site rehabilitation.
Role Accountabilities and Output:
1. Safety:
- Promote a proactive safety culture within the team.
- Communicate significant incidents to the manager quickly and effectively.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures in line with Greenfields’ policies.
- Ensure resources are applied to achieve safety objectives.
- Identify and escalate safety risks.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and complete Take 5 assessments before non-routine activities.
2. Leadership and Communication:
- Monitor your own and team performance to ensure compliance with company values and procedures.
- Support the Geotechnical Engineer in communicating changes and issues to relevant stakeholders.
- Foster a positive team environment and engage with stakeholders effectively.
3. Planning:
- Optimize processes and procedures where possible.
- Provide on-ground support to exploration teams, including field sampling, drill programs, and sample collection.
- Ensure exploration activities align with work programs and safety standards.
- Participate in pre-start meetings and Take 5 assessments.
- Ensure adequate field facilities, supplies, and stock for exploration programs.
4. Behaviours:
