About the Job
The Department for Business and Trade is seeking a Driver to provide transport services for staff and authorized passengers at the British High Commission (BHC). This role involves ensuring safe and efficient transportation while adhering to road traffic rules and security regulations.
Main Purpose of the Job
- Provide transport services for staff and authorized passengers within Tanzania.
- Ensure safety, efficiency, and courteousness in all driving activities.
- Adhere to road traffic rules and BHC’s transport policies and security regulations.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Driving Duties: Transport High Commission staff to meetings, events, and field visits across Tanzania.
- Delivery Tasks: Deliver and collect items such as invitations, messages, and packages.
- Passenger Safety: Ensure the safety of staff and passengers while in or around official vehicles.
- Safety Procedures: Advise on and implement safety procedures, especially in unfamiliar situations.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Keep the vehicle clean, perform minor maintenance, and report defects or repairs needed.
- Log Keeping: Maintain a log of transport-related events and handle email correspondence as needed.
- Support Functions: Assist with airport formalities and support official functions.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Driving Experience: Minimum of four years driving experience with a clean driving license.
- Knowledge of Area: Good working knowledge of Dar es Salaam and other areas of Tanzania.
- Efficiency: Ability to manage time effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Discretion: Demonstrate initiative, discretion, and politeness in all interactions.
- Safety Awareness: Strong focus on safety risks and preemptive reactions.
- Vehicle Management: Capable of performing minor maintenance and keeping the vehicle in good condition.
