Job Description

WAT SACCOS is seeking two proactive and dedicated Credit Officers to join our team. The Credit Officers will be responsible for managing credit activities, assisting clients with their credit needs, and ensuring the efficient processing and management of loans.


General Duties

  • Client Interaction: Work directly with clients/members to promote credit activities.
  • Credit Needs Assessment: Assist clients in determining their credit needs.
  • Loan Management: Manage loan applications and approval processes, ensuring timely delivery and collection of loans.
  • Portfolio Tracking: Monitor assigned loan portfolio performance and provide periodic reports.

Specific Duties

  • Credit Activities: Identify and recommend areas for credit activities based on the business plan.
  • Member Registration: Find and register new potential members.
  • Surveys and Assistance: Conduct area surveys and assist potential members in completing loan application forms, including visits to workplaces and verification of guarantee information.
  • Application Analysis: Analyze loan applications and recommend to the SACCOS Management Committee regarding creditworthiness.
  • Loan Disbursement: Disburse funds for approved loans, formalize relationships, and ensure repayment procedures.
  • Member Organization: Organize potential members into SACCO through orientation processes.
  • Loan Collection: Facilitate loan disbursement and collection, review monthly updates to detect delinquencies, and ensure no loans are in arrears.
  • Program Planning: Assist the SACCO Manager in planning program goals and activities.
  • Consultation: Provide consultation in member business development and management as needed.
  • Target Achievement: Meet the specified target of loans to disburse each month.
  • Additional Duties: Perform any other tasks assigned by the SACCOS General Manager.

Educational Qualifications and Competencies

  • Degree Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, or Cooperative Management and Accounting.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of analyzing financial records.
  • Compliance: Strict adherence to SACCOS rules and regulations.

Salary

Salary is according to WAT SACCOS’ salary scheme.
