Job Purpose:
The Communications & Marketing Officer will be responsible for delivering high-quality communications across various company platforms, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to execute timely and budget-friendly marketing campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute communication plans to increase public awareness, including drafting marketing emails, newsletters, campaigns, and event descriptions.
  • Write and distribute content to promote the organization’s brand, including press releases, newsletters, speeches, website copy, leaflets, and social media updates.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public, partners, and media.
  • Manage brand image and reputation through various communication channels, including social media and press coverage.
  • Conduct market research to analyze the company’s audience and their needs.
  • Collaborate with management to develop public relations strategies and campaigns.
  • Ensure consistency in tone of voice and branding across all outputs.
  • Proofread company communications and marketing materials.
  • Use analytics to report on the reach and impact of campaigns, tracking performance across channels.
  • Undertake media monitoring to capture external coverage of Mkuki Na Nyota.
  • Support the Management Team in producing reports for external publication.

Qualifications:

  • MA degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of proven work experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong writing skills in English and Kiswahili.
  • Team player with a proactive mindset and willingness to support colleagues.
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing work independently.
  • Experience in marketing or communications and/or a qualification in a relevant field.
  • Ability to create impactful content tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in content management systems and social media platforms.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Experience in web design and content production is a plus.
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in communication and marketing.
