Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Building and Construction Engineer to join our team and contribute to our mission of fostering a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Planning:

  • Develop engineering designs and plans for new construction projects, expansions, and renovations of logistics facilities.
  • Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to ensure all designs meet operational requirements and optimize space usage.
  • Ensure all designs comply with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental sustainability standards.

Project Management:

  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of construction projects, ensuring completion on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Coordinate with architects, surveyors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery of services.
  • Manage budgets and provide cost estimates, tracking expenses and reporting on project progress.

Construction Supervision:

  • Monitor construction project progress to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential issues, address concerns, and ensure timelines are met.
  • Ensure the use of appropriate construction materials and techniques for durability and cost-effectiveness.

Facility Maintenance:

  • Oversee maintenance and repair of logistics facilities, including regular inspections to assess structural integrity and operational functionality.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules to prevent equipment breakdowns or facility downtime.
  • Supervise facility upgrades and renovations to improve operational efficiency.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure all construction activities adhere to local, national, and international building codes and safety regulations.
  • Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards.
  • Stay updated on the latest safety, environmental, and construction regulations to ensure company facilities remain compliant.

Sustainability and Energy Efficiency:

  • Promote the use of sustainable materials and energy-efficient designs in all construction and maintenance activities.
  • Implement and monitor eco-friendly construction practices and energy-saving solutions.

Vendor and Contractor Management:

  • Identify, select, and manage external contractors and suppliers, ensuring all agreements are cost-effective and aligned with company standards.
  • Negotiate contracts and oversee the performance of external parties to ensure quality services and meeting deadlines.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive records of construction activities, facility maintenance, and associated costs.
  • Prepare detailed reports on project timelines, budgets, and outcomes for senior management.
  • Ensure proper documentation of facility inspections, safety reports, and construction permits.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Immediate Supervisor, General Manager, or Director.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience of 3+ years in building and construction, preferably in an ICD, CFS setting.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and Microsoft Office Package.
